Ah.

I am currently writing my next Writing the Novel assignment. I have to write 2000 words of my novel (A Polished Brass Telescope, again) and show within it how I can control points of view.

The points of view thing is fine. I can write from different perspectives, no bother.

The problem is that I don’t think the chapter I’m writing will fit into 2000 words. Which is annoying because it will probably now need uber-editing when I’m done.

I’ve decided it’s about time to register with a doctor (I like to take my time over things…) I’m still technically registered up at the Uni Health Service, but I’m outside their catchment area now so if I went to see a doctor there I’d have to lie about where I live. Which probably isn’t a good thing.

I have a choice between two doctors offices, as I see it. One is literally just around the corner from us, a five-ten minute walk perhaps? This would be ideal, except that it’s the GP situated in the local hospital. I dunno, it shouldn’t make a difference but I have to wonder whether that would make it a massive pain in the arse to ever get an appointment there? I don’t mind waiting around a few days for something like a pill prescription or whatever, but I’ve had a couple of things before that have needed treatment right away and I don’t like the idea of hanging about :/

The other one is about half a mile away on Alma Road, which is actually a surprisingly long trek from here. But I guess that’s what the car’s for?

I suppose I could always do the sensible thing of just registering at the nearby one and I can always switch if I don’t like it. But that would be far too easy.

So far today I have slept too late and bought an impractical and expensive dress, but haven’t written any of my next assignment, which needs to be finished before I leave for London on Thursday.

Priorities, I haz them.

Today's two VERY IMPORTANT discoveries:

Discovery 1: Funeral For a Friend are playing The Joiners in April. I owe it to my 15 year old self to go.

Discovery 2: NEIL BUCHANAN (yes, from Art Attack) IS A METALHEAD. And his metal band is playing Southampton in January. Awesome.

Nobody knows (tiddly-pom) how cold my toes (tiddly-pom) how cold my toes (tiddly-pom) are growing.

(I really hope you all know the songs from Winnie the Pooh or I look like a mad person now.)

Maaaan it’s getting cold down here in Southampton. Well, everywhere in the UK I imagine, but I’m only in Soton so that’s the only place I can say for sure. Light snow forecasted for Friday night; let’s hope that’s not true because I’ve never known it to snow lightly down here, I’ve only ever known it to cover the place and leave me house-bound for two days. And I want to go Christmas shopping on Saturday.

In other news, making my own coloured sugar is my new favourite thing. It’s beaaaautiful. Like tiny crushed gems.

Decisions decisions!

The week after next I have another 2000 word extract of A Polished Brass Telescope due in. No adendums, no commentaries, no specific guidelines as of yet… and I can’t choose which bit to write! I want to keep all three sections I submit chronological (don’t ask why, it just seems best) so I’m thinking something at Ailbe’s house, being as that’s one of the big locations. Not sure what part though. I could do the family exposition, but tbh it’s not the most action-packed sequence. Or the wedding maybe? Or the night before the wedding, or the meeting with Louis afterwards, or Lucille finding out she’s pregnant, or or or or or.

I’m not good with decisions XD

heyyy, I was thinking, we really should meet up!

Oh definitely :D I’m totally bogged down with work at the moment, but I should be free a bit over the festive period! It’s a while since I’ve been to Southsea, or you can come on a magical mystery tour to southampton XD

It is my birthday.

Today I am 21 years old. And it’s a bit strange; I still feel about 15.

Anyway, I’ve had a fab day, been spoiled to the max by my wonderful boyfriend (<3), have a lot of cards up around the flat, and have eaten more than I really should have.

A good birthday? I think so :)

This morning my postman tried to get me to sign for a parcel that was meant to go to the other side of the street (I live on Cranbury Place, the other side is Cranbury Terrace - it’s a bit confusing, but really not THAT hard) and admitted to me that he’d been “doing the job for a fortnight and still hadn’t got the hang of it.” After he’d gone I found out that half my building’s post was actually meant for 14 Cranbury TERRACE.

I’m now slightly concerned for the whereabouts of my birthday presents, which Antony has been complaining are taking a long time to arrive :|

Kind of liking the idea of bumming around Wales or Cornwall for a week or two next summer. I want somewhere new to explore. The biggest problem is really figuring out where, exactly.

Oh, and the money. Money’s always a problem. But I want a holiday and I haven’t had one since starting uni so the bank balance is just going to have to suck it up :)
