WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT EXPERIENCE.
It’s the beginning of my last semester at university, and whilst that’s fantastic I’m starting to get The Fear. All I’m asking is to be a waitress, or a shop assistant or something. It’s not a lot.

Finally getting my windscreen done this week (it’s only taken a month…) It’s going to cost £140. And the handbrake still needs fixing and that’s going to cost even more money.
*cries*
If you count typing random facts about a character as starting. Which I do.
I changed everything from Miss to Ms a couple of months ago in an attempt to turn myself into a responsible adult. It hasn’t really worked.
Just had the weekly Sunday phone call to my parents. Found out that my new cello is sitting on my parents’ spare bed, so it’s ready to be collected whenever I can find time to get up to Leicester :) yaaaaay!
Also talked to my dad about websites etc., he’s sending me an old program for building websites so hurrah. It’s a bit basic, but I only need pictures and words so I’m sure it’ll do. They also have about 10gb of webspace that came with their broadband which they don’t use, so apparently I can have that too (if my dad works out how to get at it). Productive phone call was productive! Now all I need is to find someone to do a nice bit of graphic art/digital logo design for me. I have the basic logo, it just needs a few tweaks and drawing up properly in a way so I can actually use it on the website.
So: all the people I know who do graphic art etc., I can pay you in cake if you will do my logo for me :D anyone? Please?
So it turns out that website design isn’t really all that easy for a newbie. Anyone care to dispense some advice on getting started?
Come to think of it, anyone care to do some free/paid-in-cake graphic design for me? Hah.
On the plus side, as of last night this cake business finally has an actual name. So some progress is being made, at least.
I just discovered my tumblr had randomly un-followed a load of people. I thought my dash was looking a bit bare…
Woman’s voice coming from street: Are you sure we live here?
Someone opens our front door and the voices come inside.
Woman’s voice: [now sounding reassured] Oh yeah, we live here.
Wow. Some people really are forgetful.
Found out last night that Naomi was selling her 3/4 size cello, and she kindly let me have it for £50 :D I am SO EXCITED it’s unreal, I’ve wanted to learn the cello for ages. Admittedly I don’t really have the money for proper lessons, but it can’t be that hard… right? Hmm.
I can’t actually play with it for three months anyway, because it’s in Leicester and I’m in Southampton, and my car is broken. But Anton’s brother is meant to be picking it up later for us, and who knows, maybe once the car is fixed we might be able to find time to nip up and get it before Easter.
I have absolutely no idea where we’re going to put it (ideas so far have included in the wardrobe, under the coat hooks and next to the tv), but I’m sure we’ll squeeze it in somewhere ;) We already have five guitars and two basses, a cello won’t make THAT much of a difference.
If all else fails, we can always get rid of the bed…
Ok, so I figured that it’s probably time I actually came up with a name for this baking business, so I want suggestions! If I choose a name that you come up with, you get 6 free custom cupcakes. Deal?
Specifications:
- No ‘bakery’ in the name. It’s not a bakery. ‘Cakes’ or ‘Cakery’ is fine, however :D
- Nothing rude please ;) I’m looking for a serious business name.
- Something a little bit whimsical! ‘Lucy’s Cakes’ is just too boring. So be creative!
aaaaaand… go!!
I really need to get my shit together and buy some professional cake boxes/boards. EXPENSE, though *weeps*.
But then I suppose that, given the amount of tupperware that I give away, it won’t cost any more than replacing my tupperware all the time…
Yeah I’ve seen those about, I’ll need some when I start my business for making tiny sample cakes ;) I’ve been making do with biiiig sheet cake trays because of space issues, and they’re not too bad, just… too big! Mostly it just means I get one wavy, crispy edge (which is quite nom, actually) but it would be nice to have properly shaped brownies once in a while!
I’m in such a good mood today :D I woke up to an inbox full of dragon-cake-related compliments from other bakers, and in a minute I’m going to help Antony make brownies for his band, and I’m finally getting close to the end of that scarf, and I think I have the patience to go back to those illusion socks.
Happy happy happy :D
