Court backs decision to bar Christian foster couple
Mr and Mrs Johns said they could not tell a child homosexuality was an acceptable lifestyle
A decision to bar a Christian couple from fostering children because of their views on homosexuality has been backed at the High Court.
Eunice and Owen Johns, 62 and 65, of Derby, said the city council did not want them to become foster carers because of...

also yay for cake.
by the way, I’ve been itching to go to the movies but it sucks to be going on one’s own… is it something you’d be up for? I’ve been wanting to see King’s Speech, but I don’t know if it…
Sounds good ^_^ I’ll keep an eye on the cinema times for the weekend :)

This is of course assuming that Guy Ritchie still likes it. Otherwise there’s only three of us.
Good day :) Anton and I both actually got some SLEEP which was amazing. Went into town and had a wander, but it was too busy to do that much actual shopping :P But I got some kitchen stuff and discovered that Buyology stocks proper cake boards, so happy times. Then movie afternoon where I...

Sometime between walking home and now I seem to have hurt my left ankle :/ The area around the achilles tendon is really sore and painful to walk on. It doesn’t seem to be swollen, or at least not much, just painful to move.
I’m the only person I know who can injure their ankle whilst sitting at a desk.
Reblog if you support gay marriage.

Look how many notes.
I don't want to be ill anymore.
It would be kinda nice if I could actually eat a meal without feeling nautious afterwards, tbh.

ARG. I just remembered about a record player I was planning to bid on on ebay TEN MINUTES after the auction ended. It went for £2.74.

I really must be ill.
Last night I shouted insults at a guy on his way into the YMCA/down-and-outs-centre at the end of my road (which caters specifically to arsonists and rapists) because he dropped a can on the floor when he was a meter a way from the bin.
Sense of self-preservation, I don’t has it.
I just remembered that rag rug I started a few...
I think today there will be a knitting break. I want that rug.
SO ILL.
Such a busy day today, and so poorly to go with it :/ Thank christ it’s my day off tomorrow.

Once, long ago, I was far from home and I felt very ill. I went to the doctor. The doctor said I had a tubal pregnancy and that there was a very real possibility that I could die from it. I said ‘but I am on a highly reliable method of birth control’ and the doctor said ‘these things happen’ and I said ‘yes, I suppose they do.’ The doctor I saw referred me to Dr. [redacted], who...
Cannot settle to ANYTHING today.
Literally no concentration span. I decided a little while ago to watch Sherlock and knit some sock, and though I made it through the episode (2, only got one more to go now) I managed in that whole time to knit precisely two rows of the chart. Admittedly each row of the chart involves four rounds of knitting, but still.
But I have to write more diss because I promised Vicky I would send her the...

Your third year university life seems pretty calm,...
Have I ever! It helps that I’m finally studying things that I’m interested in, but the main difference has come through having my own space and having Anton down here full time. I never really fit into the stereotypical ‘student’ mould, so I could get pretty lonely. Now I don’t really feel like a student anymore, or not in the same way at least. And I like being able...
llylia replied to your post: I’ve got a choice of things to do with my day….
I’d read your stuff anytime
That would be awesome :D It’s a story about an ~17th century upper class girl who turns into a tree hah. I’ll email it to you tomorrow when I’ve reached the 3000 word mark, ‘cause then it’ll be around half the first draft :)
I just cleaned the kitchen, and now my hands smell...
That’s probably not a good thing.
I’ve got a choice of things to do with my day. They are
a) I could work on my dissertation and make it to the 2,500 word mark or even beyond, or
b) I could clean the kitchen properly in time for when the landlord visits tomorrow to do the maintenance checks or
c) I could watch episodes 2 and 3 of Sherlock (my dvds finally arrived yesterday) and carry on knitting these very long-winded...

whats your plans for life after university?
Well, Anton’s got two years left at uni down here in Soton, so I guess I’ll get a job so I can carry on paying the rent! Also opening a celebration cake business in the next few months, exciting :)
Ask me anything
I am having lunch for the second day running.
I’m strangely proud of that. Get me and my three-meals-a-day. (I usually forget lunch/wake up too late to count breakfast and lunch as separate meals/don’t have anything lunch-like in the fridge/all of the above.)
Right. Things To Do Today:
French cinema seminar.
Make a meal plan.
Book Sainsbury’s delivery.
Write some dissertation.
Do some washing up.
Figure out this short...
I do not understand short row heels D:
Dear printer,
Just once, would you mind not waiting until I have v. important things to print off before you break? Thanks, Lucy.
Plan for the rest of this evening: write some dissertation, go to the shop, shower & pyjamas, then watch Jaws with Anton and eat syrup pudding :)
Reason #134 why I hate presentations:
Apparently I speak in a low voice when I practice them, so my voice is shot after two run-throughs.
Oww.
:(
I really, really want some chocolate, but it’s presentation-writing time, and I don’t really have time (in good conscience) to go to the shop. Anyone who brings me chocolate gets a hug.

George Lucas, when will you learn to leave well enough alone?
Wow. I really fail at designing typography.
I’m working from a type face I found online but I just keep copying it, not improving it. The problem is I really, really like the type face just as it is. But it feels a bit weird just to write my logo in a random, pre-designed font and have done with it. Kinda lazy.
Random children's book.
I was just looking through my notebook and found a children’s book which I wrote in about half an hour during a creative writing seminar last year. I can’t remember whether the numbers refer to pages or spreads… I’m guessing spreads, because a 16-page book would be pretty short. But I could be wrong. I don’t know, ask past-me.
Really Fast Draft Children’s Book...
I just made a nice colour-coded plan of when I have to have all my essays etc. done by this semester, and which day I’m workin on what. Got mah geekface on XD Got a lot to do, it turns out, but it looks like I’ll have two weeks off at Easter. Well, I have to redraft my dissertation a bit during those weeks, but redrafting a story about gypsies and dryads whilst in the Scottish...
THAT GORRAM SCARF IS FINISHED!
At last.
No photo yet because it’s wrapped up on Anton’s desk awaiting his return, but I’ll take one when he wears it hah. It wasn’t even a complicated design, just knitting and purling to do diagonal stripes. Which is probably why it took forever because I kept getting bored.
Right. Off to find a lovely pattern with INCREASES and DECREASES which ISN’T A SCARF.
